The Grand Canal at the Blue Hour
Venice is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe and worldwide. Every traveller has at least heard about this unique city in Italy famous for its architecture, carneval and canals.
This photo shows the grandest of them all – the magnificent, one and only, the Grand Canal, in Italian known as, unsurprisingly, Canal Grande. I took it from the iconic Rialto bridge. The Grand Canal is a very busy waterway, with gondolas and vaporettos transporting people in both directions until late at night. During the blue hour there is still much traffic, so it takes a little bit of patience to catch a quiet moment like this.
