Salzburg Skyline Shortly after Sunset, Austria
Salzburg is the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and my favorite city in Austria. Perhaps it is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and in the world. It has a very well preserved Baroque city center and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Due to its location in a mountainous region, finding great viewpoints in Salzburg is very easy. You can either climb one of the surrounding mountains or you can stay in the city and take a walk along the banks of the Salzach river. There is no lack of good photo spots in this picturesque city. This photo was taken from one of the bridges shortly after sunset.
From this perspective, you can see how big Hohensalzburg castle is and how it dominates the cityscape of Salzburg. With a length of approx. 250 m (820 ft), a width of approx. 150 m (490 ft) and situated at an altitude of 506 m (1660 ft) it is a very impressive fortress and a great landmark, if you’re into photographing cityscapes and historic architecture.
