The Gargoyle of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris
The fire of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, which happened on April 15, 2019, was a very sad event and a great loss for France and also for the cultural heritage of mankind.
I took this photo from the tower of the cathedral in 2010. The weather was stormy and dark clouds appeared over Paris. The photo has a rather gloomy look and I feel that it somehow fits the current mood.
Visiting the cathedral and climbing the tower won’t be possible for quite some time. This perspective, with the gargoyle in the foreground and the Eiffel Tower in the background, is one of the classic views of the French capital. Unfortunately, travel photographers will have to wait patiently until the cathedral is opened to the public again.
