Black and White Panorama of Paris with the Seine River
This panorama of Paris with the river Seine was taken from the tower of Notre-Damme Cathedral. After importing it into Lightroom, I found that the the composition of the original image with the aspect ratio 3:2 was not particularly strong, so I played around with different crops. A square aspect ratio seemed to work best, I liked how the river Seine flows across the frame. It was a cloudy day, so the colours were rather dull.
Whenever I see dull colours in my photos, I am inclined to try a black and white conversion. If the composition of the photo is good, it might work quite well. I did the conversion in Silver Efex Pro, which is my favourite tool for this job.
Visiting the tower Notre-Damme Cathedral requires a lot of patience, because the ticket queues can be extremely long. But if you’re a photographer and the light is good, it is definitely worth it!
