Helsinki Skyline as Seen from the Ferry Departing for Tallinn
The Finnish capital city Helsinki is a relatively young city and as such it does not have too many old landmarks. It does have, however, a very nice skyline dominated by the neoclassical Helsinki cathedral. I think that the buildings in the foreground stylistically fit very well into the skyline. The impressive grey building in the centre of the frame is the Helsinki City Hall, in Finnish known as Helsingin kaupungintalo.
I didn’t have much time in Helsinki and I was not able to find a good spot to capture the skyline from the ground level. I landed in the Finnish capital mainly to get from there to Tallinn in Estonia. Looking at the location of the ferry terminal on the map, I expected that the view from the ferry would be stunning. After boarding, I went straight to the stern of the ferry. And indeed, the view from there did not disappoint me and I was glad I had a tele-photo zoom with me. What a great skyline!
