Autumn in Freudenberg, North Rhine-Westphalia
Freudenberg is a small town near Siegen in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is famous for its historic core built wholly of half-timbered houses.
There are many towns with half-timbered architecture in Germany, e.g. Celle, Limburg an der Lahn, Dillenburg, Wernigerode. What is unique about Freudenberg is that all these half-timbered houses look… more or less the same. In other towns they come in various colours, shapes and sizes. They can have white, beige, yellowish or red facades. They can be small or large. Freudenberg’s half-timbered houses are all white and of similar size.
I like this small, quaint town nevertheless. Isn’t it picturesque?
